How to apply for Tampere University Scholarships

Finland scholarships awarded by Tampere University are part of the national Finland Scholarship programme. Applicants to Master’s programmes are eligible to apply. Finland scholarships are awarded to the most merited applicant in each Master’s programme at Tampere University.

Finland scholarships cover the programme tuition fee for the first year of studies. They include a 5000 € relocation grant, paid to the student’s Finnish bank account after the student has arrived in Tampere and started studies at Tampere University.

In addition, Tampere University awards a Tampere University tuition fee scholarship for the second year of studies to all recipients of the Finland scholarship. In addition, the scholarship covers 100 % of tuition fees in the second year of studies. 

Tampere University tuition fee scholarships

Tampere University tuition fee scholarships awarded at admission cover 100% of the tuition fees for the programme duration. The programme duration is

  • three years for Bachelor’s degrees
  • two years for Master’s degrees
  • five years if the study right is granted for both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree.​​​ 

The prerequisite for retaining a scholarships

The prerequisite for retaining the Tampere University tuition fee scholarship throughout the programme duration is progressing in studies at the normative pace. To retain the full tuition fee scholarship in the following year of studies, the recipient must earn at least 55 credits during the academic year, as detailed in the personal study plan. For example, if a scholarship recipient completes 50-54 credits during the academic year, their scholarship will be reduced to 50% in the following academic year. However, if a scholarship recipient completes less than 50 credits during the academic year, they will be charged the full tuition fee in the following academic year. These conditions also apply to the Tampere University tuition fee scholarship awarded for the second year of studies to recipients of the Finland scholarship.

How to apply for scholarships

To be considered for the Tampere University tuition fee scholarship or the Finland scholarship, you must apply for the scholarship as part of your application for admission during the application period. For applicants for Master’s programmes, the application period starts on 8 December 2021 at 8.00 GMT +2 and ends on 12 January 2022 at 15.00 GMT +2. For applicants for Bachelor’s programmes, the application period begins on 5 January 2022 at 8.00 GMT +2 and ends on 19 January 2022 at 15.00 GMT +2.

You will apply for Tampere University Scholarships and Finland scholarships with the same online application you use to apply for admission at Studyinfo. fi. To apply for the scholarships, you will be asked to indicate which scholarships you wish to apply for (if applicable), describe in writing on the application form the academic qualifications which support your merit-based scholarship application and your motivation for applying for a Tampere University scholarship (max. number of characters 3500). No additional attachments are required for the scholarship application. 

All application information you submit in your application for admission at Studyinfo. fi, including your educational documents, is available for the admissions committee to evaluate your scholarship application. Scholarships are awarded based on the overall academic assessment in which all application information and educational documents, as well as the grounds you have given for your scholarship application, are considered and can be decisive. Admissions committees process the applications in the Faculties and a University scholarship council. The decision on the scholarship will be communicated to you with admission information.
